The Stamford bomb squad is offering tips on spotting a suspicious package after crude pipe bombs were sent to Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, CNN and others on Wednesday.

Lt. Lou Berubeis, the commander of the bomb squad, says when explosives are in the news, it's an opportunity to educate the public.

Berubeis says the most important thing for people to know is how to recognize a package that might be dangerous.

"Is there excess postage on that item? Is there a misspelling to someone that it is addressed to. Is there a lack of a return address? These are all indicators that if you see something that is delivered to you or left on your front step you might want to slow things down and call law enforcement," says Berubeis.

The bomb squad says it will offer training sessions at local businesses to anyone interested in learning more about pinpointing suspicious packages.
