Stamford officials say more than 90 city students started their internships Monday as part of the mayor's youth employment program.
One local business that offers high school students a glimpse into the working realm is Comradity, which says it's a strategy and creative resource center.
The business is home to 15 local businesses, and as a result, five interns get to work with not one but all 15 companies.
The woman who runs the youth employment program says it is helping to build the next generation of workers. And in this economy, she says it has been very difficult for young people to find jobs.
The youth employment program started back in 2011. It has placed hundreds of interns with local businesses over the last six years.
To be eligible for the five-week internship program, candidates must be a junior or senior in high school and live in Stamford.
