A Stamford youth baseball team is hoping to expand their team and head to a tournament during MLB All-Star Week in Miami.
This summer, a group of 11- and 12-year-old girls formed the baseball team the Stamford Sluggers.
Janice Razzaia is the manager of the newly formed team, a position she found herself in as daughter Stephanie was too old for Little League baseball.
She says the girls played Little League baseball and want to continue with that sport rather than making the switch the softball.
They were recently chosen to be one of 12 baseball and softball teams invited to participate in the All-Star Youth Classic--a round-robin tournament during next month's MLB All-Star Week in Miami.
The trip is free to all the players who attend and everyone also gets to go to the 88th Major League All-Star Game.
The problem is the team currently has six girls who can go and they need at least nine to attend, but would prefer a roster of 12.
They're hoping to get the word out to girls in the area who'd be interested in joining this baseball team and heading to the tournament in Miami.
