A Stamford man walked through Fairfield County Sunday to spread a message of peace in the Middle East.
Al Forte says he has stepped up his peace activism by walking around the country, meeting people and handing out cards with prayers for peace written on them. Forte, 66, traveled on foot from New York City to Chicago last year.
Forte says his mission is to meet people and talk about world peace, while also handing out his prayer cards. He has developed a small following and says everywhere he's walked, he's seen momentum for change.
"When my sister found out that's what I was doing, she called me Forrest Gump," Forte says.
Forte's next on-foot journey will take him from Connecticut to Gettysburg, Penn.
