Two Stamford police officers are being hailed as heroes by a grateful family after saving a woman and child from a burning home.
Officials say the fire Tuesday on Orange Street quickly engulfed the home in flames, trapping a 57-year-old woman and her 2-year-old grandson in an upstairs bedroom.
Sgt. Richard Phalen and Officer Eddie Davis, who were stationed nearby, responded to the blaze. Davis grabbed the child and handed him over to firefighters, while Phalen pulled the woman to safety outside.
