A 22-year-old from Stamford is stuck at a hospital in Mexico after breaking his spine in a diving accident.

While celebrating his sister's birthday in Cancun, Jake Martin got hurt diving into the water.

His friends and family held a food fundraised over the weekend to help raise the almost $50,000 it will cost to bring him back.

Martin went to Westhill High School, where he was in the Army ROTC and then served in the military for a number of years.

Family friend Grace Pazmino says, “"The family is, even though they're going through a really rough time, I think they are really happy knowing how much we're doing for them and how many people is just coming together, coming together, and helping. As a mother, I will just cry of joy."
