A bridge replacement project on Cedar Heights Road in Stamford, near Wire Mill Road, has encountered a year-long delay due to a variety of factors, city engineer Lou Casolo said Friday.

"It's just taking too long, and we're upset by the traffic congestion and travel delays we're experiencing as a result," said Bruce Nishball, who lives near the project.
The construction portion of the project, which began in April 2023, was originally expected to take eight months, but is now scheduled for completion by November 2024, Casolo said.
Casolo cited complications the contractor has encountered stemming from weather, river diversion and complexities associated relocating utility lines running above and below the bridge.
"We understand the frustration residents are feeling, and the City of Stamford is doing everything in its power to finish the project as quickly as possible," Casolo said.
