A Unionville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night on State Route 284 in the Village of Unionville, according to New York State Police.

Troopers from State Police Greenville responded to the crash at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2003 Honda was traveling northbound on Route 284 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a cement wall.

Police said the vehicle then overturned and collided with a utility pole.

The driver and sole occupant, identified as Aidan R. Dean, 25, of Unionville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the incident is asked to contact the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Middletown at (845) 344-5300.
