State police: 40-year-old Bridgeport resident dies after Route 8 crash in Trumbull

The southbound lanes of Route 8 have reopened following a fatal crash in Trumbull.
State police said Troop G-Bridgeport responded to the crash at 11:07 a.m. on Friday.
The driver, 60-year-old Diaz Leonel, of Bridgeport, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The passenger, identified as 40-year-old Maria Nieves, of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said Leonel veered into the grassy right shoulder and crashed into a rock wall near exit 6.
