State police have issued a warning for residents to be on alert for phone scams.
Police say the callers are using the names of actual New Fairfield officers. They are providing information to residents in exchange for gift cards. However, police say the information is false.
Police say the scammers will call from a number that looks as though the call is coming from the police department.
Anyone who has received a suspicious call requesting a form of payment is urged to report it to the police.
