OVERVIEW: Extreme heat during the day and staying warm overnight! High pressure is once again dominating the forecast across the tri-state and making for dangerously hot temperatures in the upper 90s that feel 100+.
A heat advisory has been issued by the NWS for all five boroughs in New York City starting today and continuing through late day tomorrow. Unlike the more recent heat wave, this stretch of extreme heat is not anticipated to last as long. The peak of the heating is Wednesday. Temperatures drop closer to the lower 90s for Thursday and Friday.
There will be little relief overnight as temperatures are forecast to remain in the upper 70s/low 80s. Rain chances are also not likely until the weekend, when the weather pattern finally changes.
As folks plan to find healthy ways to stay cool, note that all New York City beaches have a high rip current risk for today!
