Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police say the woman injured in a boating accident on Candlewood Lake Tuesday has died.
They say 38-year-old Wanda Tirado, of Waterbury, died Wednesday morning at Danbury Hospital. Tirado was a swimmer from the involved boat, according to police.
Gary Morrone, 65, is charged in the boating accident. Morrone is charged with reckless operation of a vessel, failure to help a collision victim, and failure to immediately notify law enforcement of an injury.
Tirado was a math and science teacher at St. Mary School in Waterbury. The school posted a statement on Facebook Wednesday, "Everyone who knew Ms. Tirado knows how much she loved her students and knows that she would have done anything for them. We ask that you keep her daughters, Amanda and Daniella, in your thoughts and prayers."
The school held a prayer service Wednesday night at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church.
