The Connecticut Senate gave final approval to raise the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour.

The State Senate approved the bill by a vote of 21-14 without any of the drama seen in the House, where the debate lasted for 14 hours.

The bill raises the wage to $15 an hour by 2023. The first raise, going into effect in October, hikes the wage by 90 cents to $11 an hour.

Gov. Ned Lamont says he will sign the bill into law over the next few days. 

The legislation does not apply to wait staff and bartenders.
