Police say a stabbing at a Westport shopping plaza Monday was a random act of violence.
They say around 1 p.m., 18-year-old Ellis Tibere randomly chose a woman and attacked her with a knife. They say Tibere was wearing a mask at the time of the attack.
Investigators say an officer saw the suspect's vehicle and stopped him without incident.
This happened after first responders flooded the small shopping center on Post Road East.
Officers say the man did not know the woman he stabbed.
Investigators say the victim suffered significant injuries, but she was conscious and could speak before she was taken to the hospital.
Police have not released the name of the victim.
Tibere could be appear in court Tuesday if he can post his $1 million bond.
