Police: Bridgeport teen shocked, critically burned while playing on top of train car

A 16-year-old boy was shocked and critically burned when he made contact with live wires while standing on top of a parked train car in Bridgeport Monday, police say.

A 16-year-old boy was shocked and critically burned when he made contact with live wires while standing on top of a parked train car in Bridgeport Monday, police say.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. near Barnum School on Waterview Avenue by Seaview Avenue.
Officials say a teen called 911 to report that his friend had been injured in an explosion near the trains.
The boy ran to a friend’s house to call 911, and police say they were able to find the injured teen in a row of 10 cargo train cars parked by Crescent Street.
It appears he was standing on top of the train car and came into contact with a live catenary transmission wires and got shocked.
He was burned from head to toe, but was breathing and slightly responsive.
The teen was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he remains in extremely critical condition.
MTA was alerted and are investigating the incident.
