Police: 2 dead as Bridgeport sees 5 shootings Monday into Tuesday

Police responded to another shooting in Bridgeport Tuesday, the fifth in the city since Monday evening.
The five separate, unrelated shootings occurred from 6:15 p.m. Monday to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.
When the violence began Monday evening, police responded to Fairfield Avenue and Albion Street, where they found an 18-year-old shot in the head in his car.
Police believe he had just left a nearby convenience store when he was targeted.
The 18-year-old victim has been identified as Eugene Stinson, who hailed from Bridgeport.
One hour later, another shooting occurred on the 500 block of Harral Avenue. Police say a 23-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl were shot.
Police say they believe the man was the intended target and the girl appeared to be an innocent bystander who didn't know the other victim. They say she was shopping with her 2-year-old niece at the time. Both are expected to survive.
Then just before 11 p.m., a report of shots fired came in again. A 52-year-old man was among dozens of friends and family having a cookout on the 700 block of William Street when a lone shooter walked up and fired at point-blank range, killing him, according to police.
The victim has been identified Wayne Wollcock, whose address is unknown.
The violence continued into the overnight hours with a shooting at Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street.
Then this morning, the latest shooting occurred at the 300 block of Dover Street. Police say a man was shot in the leg on his porch by his upstairs neighbor following a dispute.
"We're doing the best we can during these difficult times to try to suppress violent crime and solve it when it occurs," says Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.
No arrests have been made yet in the shootings, and police are continuing to interview witnesses and look at security video. They do say they believe they know who is responsible for the latest shooting.
The deadly shootings were Bridgeport's seventh and eighth homicides this year. Police say they are adding more officers on the streets to try and prevent a continued uptick in violence.
