Tropical Storm Isaias brought heavy winds and rain to Connecticut, and knocked down trees and power lines.

Among the heaviest hit areas in the state was along the coastline in Fairfield County.

United Illuminating officials say 13,000 customers remain without power in the town of Fairfield Wednesday.

Large trees were left uprooted and thrown across roadways in town.

 

In neighboring Westport more than 90% of the town was without power Tuesday.

The first selectman says residents should expect to be without power for a few days.

In Greenwich the first selectman declared a local state of emergency.

A number of roads throughout several towns remain closed.

Officials say Jennings Beach and Lake Mohegan in Fairfield are closed until further notice due to storm damage.

It's not clear when power will be restored, but some town officials are saying that it could take days until power is fully restored.

Eversource is reporting that 619,028 of its customers have no power, and that the stretch from Greenwich to Westport is hit especially hard.
