A father from Stratford was seriously injured on the Merritt Parkway when he stopped to help a man whose car broke down.
Bernard Jeanty, who is still being treated at Stamford Hospital, says he has no regrets even though he lost a leg and has a long road to recovery.
On Feb. 4, Jeanty was headed home to Stratford after working as a driver in New York City when he saw a man from Norwich whose car had broken down.
Jeanty's family says he managed to fix that car but then was struck by oncoming traffic.
Police say a driver trying to swerve caused a chain reaction crash, which left Jeanty severely injured.
Still, Jeanty's family says has been holding the family together with encouragement.
There is a GoFundMe to help with Jeanty's expenses.
Beyond donations, Jeanty says he would like to connect with that driver to thank him for making sure he got help quickly. He told his family he credits that man with saving his life.
