Stratford police want to make sure residents with special needs can be easily reunited with their loved ones should a situation arise. A new program could do just that.
The Stratford Police Activities League created an ID card program for community members with special needs.
The program is getting underway this week, with officers handing out ID cards to some residents. Among them was Carlos Maldonado, who suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was a kid.
“If something happens to me, the police officer can scan it and they can get all of the information they need,” says Maldonado.
The idea is catching on, with Bridgeport police planning on launching a similar program.
