The Westport VFW can now easily welcome people with disabilities thanks to the efforts of a local high school student.
Dylan Mace started raising money to build an accessible bathroom at the VFW a year ago.
Mace and the people who helped him held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to celebrate the work done.
The new facility features custom tiles representing each branch of the service and a red-and-blue border at the top. Mace says he is happy that disabled veterans will be more comfortable at the Westport VFW.
Mace says he also plans to help repaint the facility.
