High school-aged students held a food drive Sunday in New Canaan to feed thousands of people in need across Fairfield County.
The group Feeding 500 held the drive at Walter Stewart's Market where they collected non-perishable food items for Open Doors, a housing and homeless organization.
The group has over 80 members and has raised over $45,000 so far.
"We started with the original goal of feeding 500 people and so far we've fed over 18,000," explained Oliver Tuff, Founder of Feeding 500. "I think people just overlook the amount of need in this area and they look elsewhere, but in reality, it's your own community that needs help."
