A new study finds that big supermarkets are not opening up in Connecticut's poorest and hungriest areas.
Officials have labeled certain areas, including parts of Bridgeport, as food deserts.
Officials say those areas have higher poverty rates and require people to travel longer distances to find a supermarket.
The Associated Press found no big food retailers opened in those areas from late 2011 to early 2015.
