A report by state health officials says Connecticut is number one when it comes to pediatric dental health, but experts urge parents to remain diligent when it comes to their children?s teeth.
The report by the Department of Public Health also shows that 34 percent of children in the state have cavities.
Dr. Jerry Simon of Stamford?s Dental Care Kids says parents should start taking their children for checkups at the age of 1. He says good dental health starts with parents instilling good habits in their kids, like brushing.
The findings also show one in five preschool children have untreated tooth decay.
