Thousands of people turned out Wednesday for a memorial service in Bridgeport for a 30-year-old Stratford man killed in a motorcycle crash.
About 2,000 people filed one by one into Klein Memorial Auditorium for a viewing and memorial service for Markey DesRuisseaux - a father, son, coach, business owner and former high school and college football star.
"Markey was such a beautiful soul," said LaQuonda Joseph, who says DesRuisseaux was once her boss at a local shoe store.
People who were with him on April 13 say DesRuisseaux was riding his motorcycle and was struck by a car turning the wrong way down a one-way street. He was placed on life support until he died on Monday.
"Attorney Mike Rosnick and I are working with the family to make sure we can get the family justice," said Max Rosenberg.
"Once you came around Markey, he was just so electric that you came to love him," said longtime friend DelRoy Morris. "Just a neighborhood guy that everybody loved."
