Suffolk police: Man arrested following 5-hour standoff with officers in Lake Grove
A man was arrested Sunday morning in Lake Grove after he allegedly seriously injured a woman and then got into a five-hour standoff with police.
Suffolk County police say 43-year-old Jarrod Pearson was involved in a domestic dispute with the woman when he attempted to choke her around 3 a.m.
The woman also sustained a head injury and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.
Pearson later barricaded himself in his home on Chester Street.
Officers, detectives and members of the hostage negotiation team responded.
Pearson eventually surrendered without incident at around 8 a.m.
He's been charged with assault and strangulation.
