A festival fundraiser for the Young Mariners Foundation kicked off Saturday afternoon at Harbor Point Park in Stamford.
This weekend's Summerfest celebration includes a variety of family-friendly highlights, including face painting, balloon sculptures, circus acts and a dog and pony show.
The Young Mariners Foundation is an educational organization that provides afterschool and summer enrichment activities to at-risk children in Stamford and Greenwich.
Organizers say the event is fun for everyone.
"First and foremost we have a DJ and a band this weekend in the afternoons and the evenings," says Fred Lorthioir, of the Young Mariners Foundation. "We have rides for all the children, we also have a car show and we have food tents along the way, so if you want to get something to eat and dine on the waterfront, you certainly can."
Summerfest continues from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
