The lights are back on at all four schools in Brookfield Monday after last week’s storm, but students are staying home until Wednesday.
The superintendent says due to several road closures, power crews and tree crews working, it is not safe to have school buses out on the road.
The plan is to reopen Brookfield schools on Wednesday, which means students won't finish the school year until June 29. But parents are worried because some schools don't have air conditioning.
"It's going to be a long June for these guys," says Alfonso Demasi. "It's going to be hot for these kids when it's 90 degrees at the end of June. It's going to be tough."
The school system is asking for a waiver so the students don't have to go to school for the full 180 days this year.
New Fairfield High is holding its postponed prom Monday. Graduation is still set for June 23.
