Bridgeport, Fairfield and Stratford saw a weekend of gun violence, including the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy at a birthday party in Fairfield and the deadly shooting of a man in Bridgeport.
Zion Burton, 15, died Saturday after being shot during a fight at a birthday party at the Calvin United Church of Christ banquet hall on Kings Highway East near Cumberland Farms.
The shooting was the town's first homicide in three years, officials say.
As Zion Burton's family mourns his loss, detectives are working around the clock to identify the shooter.
In neighboring Bridgeport, police are investigating yet another homicide.
Ramon Gonzalez-Peguero Jr., 32, of Hartford was shot and killed Sunday on the 1700 block of Fairfield Avenue. A teen was also injured in the shooting.
Police say there were reports of illegal ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles in the area at the time of the shooting.
Stratford police say they also responded to a shooting outside the Pure Platinum Gentleman's Club early Saturday morning, just a few days following a shooting in a residential neighborhood. The victims in each case are expected to be OK.
