Elizabeth Schumacher's daughters had been in contact with an Instagram account claiming to be a reselling account.
"My daughter was very nervous that they weren't going to be real, and she did everything she was taught online," said Schumacher.
She said her daughter was cautious, and even asked for a screen recording as proof of tickets. Once she was convinced that this was the real deal, Schumacher's daughter went through with the transaction.
"It was just under $600 right out of the checking account, and then she was waiting, and waiting," said Schumacher.
The tickets were never transferred to Schumacher's daughter.
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong is emphasizing the importance of guarding your money, especially when making large purchases online.
