A substitute teacher in New York has been fired after ripping a hijab off of a young student's head.
According to officials, Oghenetega Edah was teaching a second-grade class at the time of the incident.
Edah told the 8-year-old girl to remove her hijab.
When the girl refused, Edah pulled it off her head, pulling it over her right eye, according to officials.
The girl was taken to the hospital for her eye.
There was no permanent damage.
