Teachers across Connecticut are rallying Tuesday for changes to how their pensions are funded.
The Connecticut Education Association says the teachers' retirement fund faces an unfunded liability of more than $5 billion. According to a member of the Statford Teacher's Union, teachers pay in 6 percent for their pension but the state has not been kicking in its share. The teachers are hoping their demonstrations will get lawmakers to pass a resolution to amend the state constitution so that their pensions are fully funded annually.
Any changes to the constitution would have to be approved by voters in the fall.
