FORECAST:
Happy Friday Eve! We’re starting off with the coolest morning of the week across western Connecticut. Temps are dipping into the 40s and low-to-mid-50s - definitely a jacket kind of morning!
For comparison, we’d normally be waking up to around 65 degrees along the I-95 corridor this time of year.
By this afternoon, things will warm up a bit and you might notice a slight increase in humidity.
Looking ahead to Friday, there’s a chance for some showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms, with highs climbing into the upper 70s.
The rain is need as we are well below our monthly norm. In fact, this has been the driest summer for CT since 1995!
As we head into the weekend, it’ll feel cooler again expect mid-70s on Saturday. The rest of the holiday weekend is shaping up nicely with dry and pleasant weather.
That said, the continued dry stretch could become an issue. Southern Connecticut is already running abnormally dry, with very little rainfall this month. Northern areas have seen more rain thanks to scattered summer storms, but down south, places like the Bridgeport climate site at Sikorsky Airport are reporting well below average rainfall for both the month and the season. If this trend sticks around, we could be looking at drought conditions returning to parts of the state.
