A beloved Black Rock music venue is closing its doors after more than 20 years of concerts.
Owner William Vega says his post announcing the venue would have to close its doors was met with shock, sadness and a lot of fond memories.
Vega says The Acoustic helped give him his start as a young musician before he came on as part owner 11 years ago.
The venue has tried to adapt in the time of coronavirus with livestream performances, but Vega says it will take more than just one new income stream to keep the doors open.
"The problem is we're in debt," said Vega. "Debt is growing every day we're here, and the future of business in the next six months to a year is uncertain."
Jeff Wickun is a local musician who works the sound board when he's not playing shows. He says venues like The Acoustic are essential when musicians are looking for that first gig.
"It's people that are going there solely to see music, so if someone's playing on stage for the first time, this would be the place," said Wickun.
A livestream performance will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. Vega says he hopes this is not the last one.
