According to the National Retail Federation, Halloween spending in 2024 is expected to reach $11.6 billion. A portion of that is going to the great Halloween activities for children and adults of all ages.
“Those corn mazes and apple orchards and haunted houses, they're as popular as ever,” says consumer expert Caleb Silver. “If you're thinking about taking your family out for one of those adventures, be prepared to spend upwards of $100 to $200, depending on what you intend to do.”
Apple costs vary by orchard or farm, but on average Silver says a full-picked bag can run you anywhere between $18 and $22. A half bushel can be upwards of $36.
As for pumpkins, they can be up to $30 depending on size and quantity.
If you are looking to make memories and save, check which orchards also feature haunted walks and trails.
“Those stay pretty steady every year because they want people to come in for the apples and the pumpkins,” said Silver.
The same way consumers are encouraged to budget finances, it’s also important to budget your time. Expect traffic and long lines at many of these locations with so many people looking to make the most of the season.
