Three
cars were stolen and a fourth was damaged in a brazen theft at a Stratford car
dealership that was caught on surveillance video.
Jason
Grenier, the sales manager at Blasius South, says his brother received an alert
Sunday morning from their alarm company that said there was a break-in at the
dealership. When his brother arrived, he saw the front of the building smashed
due to one of the vehicles in the showroom being driven through the
front entrance.
Security
footage shows an Audi S4 back up
and then plow through the door and window. Then, a Shelby Mustang GT350
on the showroom floor follows behind through the newly created entryway.
Grenier
says the thieves got in by throwing a brick through a front window. Cameras
captured them going into the key room and getting keys for specific vehicles –
each high-performance cars.
The
sales manager says the suspects ended up leaving the Audi A4 behind because of
the extensive damage, but got away with the Shelby, an Infinity Q50 and a Subaru
WRX STI.
There
was no estimate yet for the damage to the building, but Grenier says the three
cars stolen total $120,000. The damaged vehicle will need $15,000 to fix.
“Just
surreal,” says Grenier. “…They weren't stealing these cars to then resell them.
They didn't have any care for the cars – even the Shelby that they drove out
afterwards. They didn't clear out the debris. They just drove right through the
frame of the building.”
Police
say they have recovered the stolen cars, but Grenier says they are badly
damaged. Investigators are now following up in search of the perpetrators.
