People in Greenburgh held a candlelight vigil Saturday to mourn the three family members who died in what police say is likely a murder-suicide.
A father, 76-year-old Robert Watson, his daughter, Cherika Johnson, and her 23-year-old son, Jaden Johnson, were found dead with gunshot wounds at their Parkway Homes Road home.
Alicia Eggleston, of Greenburgh, said the depth of Thursday's family deaths touched her heart.
"This family meant a lot to all of us. I went to school with Jaden. My Dad went to school with his mom. We've lived in this neighborhood forever. So just being here means everything," Eggleston said.
Eggleston was one of hundreds of people who gathered at the candlelight vigil.
"We've always stuck together no matter what has happened in this community. We've been there for one another, and we continue to do so," said Russell Davis, of Greenburgh.
Cherika Johnson's 14-year-old son, Jordan, who was at school at the time of shootings, was among those in the crowd.
"Since there's a lot of pain right now, there's a lot of confusion, and one of the things that you don't want to happen is for people to feel like they're alone. When you feel like a community, you come together like a community, you act like a community," said First Community Baptist Church Pastor Tyrone Robinson.
Police investigators ask anyone with information in the case to contact Greenburgh police.
