A Norwalk woman and her family were startled when their house was broken into Friday night. When she got a look at the suspect, she realized she had seen it before in her backyard.
It was a turkey. And it came crashing through a window.
Sammi Gonias says the sound was like nothing she's ever heard, followed by her daughter's screams.
"I'm like, 'Oh my God, what's happening!' My husband's upstairs and I see a wild turkey running across the floor, feathers everywhere, broken glass," she said.
The turkey scratched up the floors and caused more than $400 in damages -- all which took three hours to clean up.
"My husband opened the front door to get the turkey out, but the turkey wasn't leaving," said Gonias.
Their family dog scared the bird into a corner, while a police officer helped them get the turkey into a recycling bin.
"This room was covered in feathers, on the couch on the chairs," Gonias said.
Norwalk police released the turkey back into the wild.
