Thousands of people lined the streets of Stamford Sunday to honor fallen veterans at the city's annual Memorial Day parade.
Attendees like Carolyn Leary say it's important to impart the true meaning of Memorial Day to children.
"It's important for them to realize what it's all about ? not just cookouts and parades, but remembering the people who have defended our country and given their lives to defend our country," Leary said.
More parades are scheduled Monday across southwestern Connecticut.
