A jackknifed tractor-trailer caused significant traffic delays on northbound I-95 in Fairfield Wednesday morning.
Police say the crash occurred between exits 19 and 21, resulting in the closure of the right lane.
The Fairfield Fire Department says the driver was not injured, but a 50-gallon diesel tank did rupture. They say there is no hazard or danger to the community.
Firefighters deployed brooms, diking and absorbent pads to mediate damage and reduce environmental cleanup, which will be supervised by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The accident caused major backups in both directions as crews cleaned up the mess.
