Following recent storms, some homeowners may be considering taking down a tree or two. However, the tree in your front yard may not belong to you.
Public Works Director Harold Alvord, who is also the Norwalk tree warden, says it all depends on the property line. He claims the city has the rights-of-way along all city streets, so each tree needs to be checked to see if it?s the responsibility of the city or the property owner.
If the tree does sit on city property and residents still want it taken down, they have to go through a tree removal process and get a permit.
