A dad in Trumbull has a few sore muscles after riding his exercise bike for 24 hours. His goal - to raise $100,000 to fight childhood cancer.
Jim McCaffrey is a warrior. After losing his daughter Mia to cancer, he beat lung cancer.
Mia had cancer that started as a facial tumor when she was 6.
Genetic testing revealed they both had a trait that predisposed them to cancer. McCaffrey was found to have lung cancer, as well as non-cancerous tumors on his thyroid and brain.
The high school teacher is always searching for ways to raise money in memory of his daughter. He is vice president of Infinite Love for kids fighting cancer.
This weekend, he spent 24 hours riding his Peloton bike with the support from people online who joined him for portions of the journey.
McCaffrey says he slept for about two hours before helping his wife shovel the snow.
As for his goal, he raised $84,000, but is hoping a local spin class fundraiser that was canceled due to the snow can get him to the $100,000.
