A local tuxedo shop is celebrating a milestone anniversary this month.
Camillo Tuxedo Specialist shop in Norwalk is one of the last tailor tuxedo shops running in southwestern Connecticut with booming business all year round.
The owner, Camillo Tramontana, opened Camillo Tuxedo Specialists 50 years ago, right after New Year's Day. The shop has been a family-owned business ever since.
For Tramontana, it all started in Italy when he was 8 years old. By the time he was 15, he had opened his own shop, then came to America in his early 20s.
Tramontana opened Camillo Tuxedo Specialist when he was 26 years old.
He says not one customer's experience is better than another, and pride is in every stitch.
"When you do something you really like and do it, to me it's a good time," says Tramontana.
Among all the tuxedos and suits on display in the shop are dozens of photos from proms, sweet 16 parties and weddings of customers.
At 76 years old, Tramontana says he hopes to never retire, but says when that time comes, he hopes that his grandson will take over the business.
