After months of renovations, the Kingsbridge Road and 138th Street subway stations have reopened.

Many Bronx residents say they?re happy to have the convenience of nearby subway stations back again and they like the renovations. Commuters say the stations are cleaner, brighter and have more space.

Straphangers can swipe their MetroCards in a new mezzanine at both stations. Platform floors have been replaced, and new warning strips and fluorescent lighting have been added.

City transit officials say both station are part of a Jerome Avenue line rehabilitation project. The $55 million project also includes the Burnside Avenue, Bedford Park Boulevard and Mosholu Parkway stations, which is the only station left to be renovated. City transit says it will begin work on the station in August.
