Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT) orders health officials to step up West Nile prevention after two more cases have been seen in New Haven.
Two women living in the same West River vicinity came down with West Nile. One died and the other is expected to make a full recovery. State officials urge anyone who lives along the West River south of Whalley Avenue to take extra precautions.
Currently mosquitoes in 17 Connecticut towns have tested positive for West Nile. The health department says if this continues, pesticide spraying may be necessary.
