VFW setting up GoFundMe for Bridgeport crossing guard hit by car
A local veterans group is rallying behind a crossing guard in critical condition after being hit by a car in Bridgeport.
The Darien VFW is setting up a GoFundMe account for post commander and Vietnam veteran Lenny Hunter.
The incident happened Tuesday on North Avenue.
As News 12 Connecticut reported, the 68-year-old suffered a fractured skull and two broken legs when he was hit by a car.
Members of the VFW say the accident has left the community shaken.
“Lenny is beloved, I mean everyone in town, I’m getting calls from the 1st selectman, I’m getting calls from our congressman, getting calls former 1st selectman people who just you wouldn't think that know him and have been in contact they all want to know if they can do something,” says Phuil Kraft.
Hunter also worked at the Darien Post Office for 30 years.
