A large bobcat was captured on video prowling through a Wilton backyard.
Justin Anderson says he set up cameras and traps around his chicken coop, hoping to catch a raccoon he believed was poaching his hens. But the video also showed a bobcat that he says was "easily bigger than a German shepherd."
Anderson says he converted a treehouse in his backyard into a coop after he got the chickens three months ago. He says after he lost three hens to predators, the cameras went up, and that's when he saw the large bobcat. He says the cat is far too big to squeeze into the chicken coop.
In the video, it appears that the cat is much more interested in a trapped raccoon. Anderson says having a bobcat in the neighborhood doesn't bother him.
Wilton animal control reports there have been five bobcat sightings so far this year -- more than any other year since 2012.
