It's not every day that a moose is spotted in Connecticut, but there was a moose seen in Mansfield this week.
Deb Moretti-Nielsen captured video of the moose.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says the state's moose population mainly resides in the northwestern part of the state, though they can be seen in eastern Connecticut.
There are two times of year in which moose become highly active. One is during spring, when last year’s offspring disperse from the female and seek out their own habitat. The other is during the breeding season, which is also known as "the rut" and runs in the fall.
Residents throughout the state are encouraged to report moose sightings on the DEEP website here.
