Family and friends are mourning following a deadly encounter between two men on the Upper East Side of Bridgeport.
Police say one man stabbed another shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Then the stabbing victim fatally shot his attacker.
George Brown says it was his son's cousin and best friend who died during the incident on Brooks Street.
"Violence everywhere," Brown says. "He's taking it very, very hard -- heartbroken, you know. He lost his cousin. His best friend and cousin."
Family and friends identified the young man who died as Manny Cobb, of Bridgeport. News 12 Connecticut interviewed Cobb back in January on Brooks Street about a separate, unrelated killing of his lifelong friend, 23-year-old Adrian "AD" Lopez. Police say Lopez was fatally shot in Hamden on New Year's Day.
Lopez said in January that he had lost eight friends to gun violence in Bridgeport.
Police say the second victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. They say what led up to the fatal encounter is still under investigation.
