General Motors plants around the country are now back to full staffing after a strike that started in September. The United Auto Workers Union ratified its contract late on Friday, bringing the strike to an end after 40 days. This was at a cost of $2 billion to the automaker. The union says it will soon begin contract negotiations with Ford, followed by Fiat Chrysler.
JPMorgan is quietly shrinking its workforce in New York City. The city has long been the main hub for JPMorgan's traders and analysts. But the bank has been slowly building its presence in other, lower-cost locations such as Plano, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio. Now, it is considering relocating several thousand New York-based jobs out of the area to help rein in costs.
Virgin Galactic made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange today under the ticker symbol SPCE. It is the first space tourism company to go public. Virgin Galactic's spacecraft can carry six passengers and two pilots to the edge of space. Tickets cost about $250,000 per person as of right now.
