Petitioning gubernatorial candidate Joe Visconti announced Sunday that he is ending his bid for the governorship, just two days before Election Day.
Visconti said he is instead endorsing Republican candidate Tom Foley. The announcement was made at a campaign stop with Foley in Brookfield Sunday morning.
Visconti says he made the decision after seeing poll results yesterday that placed Foley just a few points behind Democratic incumbent Gov. Dannel Malloy.
Visconti's name will still be on the ballot Tuesday, but he urged his supporters to vote for Foley and help defeat Malloy.
